Create Regions
Create Regions
Select Data > Regions to show all regions that intersect the current chart. Add as many regions as you like. The region selected in the table is distinguished from the others by having its border drawn wider.
Click '+' to add a freeform polygonal region. Click on the chart to create vertices and so draw the region in any shape you like (such as the orange 'HK Cargo Ship Anchorage' region in the screenshot). Drag vertices to reshape the region. Drag the midpoint between two vertices to create a new vertex between them.
Click '■' to add a rectangular region like the 'Northwest HK and TST' region in the screenshot. Click on the chart to define one vertex (red); click again to define the diagonally opposite vertex (blue). Drag the red vertex to move the region; drag the blue vertex to resize it.
Regions are yellow by default, but you can give each region its own individual colour by clicking in the colour swatch. Regions are filled with a transparent version of their colour, or you can choose to leave them unfilled via an option in Preferences.
Click 'Find' to jump to the first visible vertex of the selected region. Roll over any vertex to show its name and position and its distance and bearing from your latest recorded position.
Regions can be shown or hidden individually to reduce clutter. They can also be locked to prevent accidentally moving or deleting them. back
